About Us

The Music Therapy Association of Ontario (MTAO) serves as a unifying body for music therapists: promoting, developing, and supporting the profession of music therapy in the province of Ontario.

We aim to protect the status of the profession, promote ethical practice, share information and uphold the professional and educational standards of music therapy in Ontario.

The Music Therapy Association of Ontario recognizes that its board and members practice on the traditional lands of Ontario First Nations and Metis people.

We acknowledge that there are 46 treaties and other agreements that cover the territory now called Ontario. We are thankful to be able to work and live in these territories. This land acknowledgment is only one way we recognize Indigenous therapists, clients, stakeholders and communities throughout the various territories. We highlight the need to support Indigenous peoples year-round, and to our utmost capacity.
