MTAO is pleased to offer the business skills seminar series again throughout March and April. 

This year’s series includes 5 seminars! All seminars begin at 7:00PM EST.

Registration is pay what you can. The meeting link will be provided at a later time. 

March 22 – Finance Seminar

During the seminar, Samantha will be discussing some of the key points to consider financially for sole proprietor small-business owners. She will discuss the tax requirements of being a small-business owner and some of the recent tax changes that have resulted from the COVID-19 pandemic. She will also be available to answer other tax and finance questions you may have.

Samantha Dykstra, CPA, CA, LPA

I am a senior accountant at Millard, Rouse & Rosebrugh LLP located in Brantford, Ontario. I have been with Millards for over ten years. I obtained my degree in Accounting and Financial Management from the University of Waterloo, where I also obtained my Masters in Accounting. I work with a variety of files and clients, but I specialize most in audits of not-for-profit organizations, personal tax and small-business corporate tax. I am also the Treasurer of a local not-for-profit organization.

This seminar will be facilitated by members of the MTAO Board of Directors. In this seminar we will discuss:

  • How to explain what you offer

April 7 – The Ultimate Guide to Social Media Marketing

Everyone knows they should be on social media, but most people do not have the time or the patience to maintain it. Most small business owners have great momentum when they start using social media, but it wanes as soon as more urgent issues arise. There will be tips and tricks that will help you maintain all your social profiles in just 2 hours a week.

In this workshop you will: 

  • Learn the basics of the most popular social media networks
  • Be able to determine which platform you should use for your business
  • Create and populate accounts on each of these platforms

About the facilitator:

Orzala is the owner of Make it Happen Services. A social media marketing boutique that helps small businesses develop and implement an effective digital marketing strategy using social media and direct email marketing techniques. 

Orzala is passionate about helping small businesses grow their online presence furthering their business success. Orzala began her journey earning a post-secondary diploma in Business Administration, followed by earning a Bachelor’s of Commerce degree.

She is an active member of the community. Orzala has served on the board of 100 Women Who Care, and is a member of the Ajax Pickering Board of Trade.  She has mentored young entrepreneurs at the BACD (Business Advisory Centre of Durham). Currently, Orzala is a mentor with Futurpreneur Canada.
