Job description:

MIYA Creative Care is looking for a part-time music therapist for Brampton, ON to begin in Spring 2025.  This independent contractor will be working primarily in long term care and begin at 1 full day/week with multiple opportunities for growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, coordinate, and evaluate music therapy programs in retirement homes, long term care, and/or disability services
  • Maintain an active clinical caseload providing assessment, treatment, documentation, and education
  • Maintain professionalism, including abiding by all PPE regulations
  • Attend monthly team meetings

Candidate Requirements:

  • Certified Music Therapist (MTA) with the Canadian Association of Music Therapists (CAMT) in good standing or in progress
  • Experience and passion for working with older adults and in senior care settings
  • Meets the musical and clinical competencies recommended by the Canadian Association of Music Therapists
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Creative and adaptive clinical skills
  • Possess own instruments, including a guitar and a variety of rhythm instruments
  • Be independent, organized, and enthusiastic about working as part of a team
  • Weekend/evening availability and willingness to travel an asset
